Calling all interested young people!
The monthly active involvement meeting has been developed to support all
young people to express their views on their local communities. The idea
is that we can work together to come up with solutions, and take active
steps to inviting local councillors along to improve the City we live
in. So far we have had four meetings, with a variety of different young
people from different backgrounds. Whether you are from an AI team
yourself in your local youth club, or just interested in making a
difference, the meeting is held the last Thursday of every month at 6:30
– 8:30pm in the Town Hall.
So far we have had a few exciting developments, last month Mike Mead and
Nathan Daly expressed their concerns with local housing issues for young
people. It was decided that an action group of young people should be
developed to go out and do some peer interviewing with young people in
sheltered housing, what they feel should be better, and how things could
change. If you want to be a part of this please contact the Young
People's Office on 01733 317493
We have also started working with a few young people that are interested
in making films, who are also looking for young people to take part in
one of their first productions on young peoples involvement!! Watch this
space for more information.
The Young People’s Office actively supports the monthly forum as a place
for young people to affecting change directly, without all the jargon
that comes in between young people expressing an opinion and it getting
to the right places. If you want to be part of a dynamic, interesting
project that aims to make a difference, then drop us a line at
cu@ycp.info or phone 01733 317493 !! Or
come and visit us on the 3rd floor of Midgate House, Midgate at the Young
People’s Office.
